We distribute our lights in countries that have low electrification rates to ensure that beneficiaries of our 2 Million Lights programme receive the dual benefits of first-time access to solar energy and financial savings, while reducing or ending their reliance on fossil fuels.
Our low-cost, high-quality lights have quickly gained significant market shares in the pico lights market in Namibia (90%), Zambia (72%) and Zimbabwe (83%) over the relatively short time of their distribution – showing that trust in the durability of the product, as well as affordability made possible through our carbon subsidy model, are key to unlocking clean technology for those who need it the most.
