Press Release: Namene Sponsors Africa Renewables Investment Summit

Namene sponsors the three-day event, which focuses on investment facilitation for renewable energy projects across Africa. The conference will take place 27th – 29th September at Cape Town International Convention Center 2 (CTIC2), and will host investors, corporates, policymakers, consultants, developers and other stakeholders, with speakers including Ahmed Badr Director of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) among others.

26.09.2022 Cape Town, South Africa: Namene sponsor the Africa Renewables Investment Summit (ARIS), taking place in Cape Town this week, and hosting 45 speakers across 30 sessions over the three day conference. As solar specialists Namene is deeply committed to boosting renewable energy access across Africa, and currently distributes hundreds of thousands of solar light across Sub-Saharan Africa

ARIS  is a leading renewable energy investment summit with a conference and expo. The event seeks to accelerate renewable energy investment in African countries by linking institutional investors, project developers, policy makers, energy utilities, regulators, corporates and the most influential energy sector decision makers under one roof.

Despite having the world’s largest renewable energy potential, almost half of Africa’s 1.2 billion population is still not electrified. Renewable energy presents the best opportunity to accelerate energy access and end energy poverty on the African continent.

Namene Head of Partnerships and Sales Ian Mills said:

“We are delighted to sponsor the ARIS event in Cape Town. As a key conference the summit will bring together renewable energy stakeholders and investors from across the globe. In this critical decade for clean energy investment ARIS is central to creating strategic partnerships that can harness Africa’s renewable energy potential, and accelerate solutions that fast track Africa’s energy transition. As a sponsor, Namene shares ARIS’ goal of increasing clean energy access in Africa. We are committed to improving lives, and avoiding emissions with solar lights, which we are distributing at scale across a number of Sub-Saharan African countries, through our distribution partnerships and our innovative climate projects.”

Investment facilitation for renewable energy projects is at the core of ARIS, which will focus on forging strategic partnerships to grow renewable energy projects and initiatives across the continent. An estimated $70 billion in yearly renewable energy investments is required for Africa to meet its electrification targets by 2030, according to a report by the International Renewable Energy Agency.
